Pierre Auguste Renoir

Pierre Renoir was a French Impressionist painter noted for his radiant intimate paintings. Born in Limoges on February 25, 1841, Renoir developed his talent early on by painting on china at a porcelain factory. He studied painting formally in 1862 at the academy of the Swiss painter, Charles Gabriel Gleyre in Paris. H also began attending the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Renoir was influenced early on by two French artists, Claude Monet in his treatment of light, and romantic painter Eugene Delacroix in his treatment of color. Renoirís distinct style using delicate brush strokes and rich colors made him one of the masters of Impressionism.
